Coat or Cape? – It’s SURVEY SATURDAY!

It may be a holiday weekend, and the survey may be a bit delayed (it’s a holiday weekend!) — but we still give the people what they want.  It’s SURVEY SATURDAY, turkey leftovers be damned.

Melania often wears her coat over her shoulders like a cape. I WANT TO KNOW WHY?!

Give me your answers!

Thanksgiving Delights

A delicious meal, and now another treat. And this ain’t no gobble gobble…WE HAVE BREAKING NEWS ON THANKSGIVING DAY!

From today’s New York Times , Flynn has notified Trump’s lawyers he can no longer share information with them regarding the Special Counsel’s investigation.

So what do you think this means? C’mon, we know what this means. Flynn is likely cooperating with Mueller’s investigation, and I’m sure he has some information to tell.

Quoting directly from the article:

WASHINGTON — Lawyers for Michael T. Flynn, President Trump’s former national security adviser, notified the president’s legal team in recent days that they could no longer discuss the special counsel’s investigation, according to four people involved in the case, an indication that Mr. Flynn is cooperating with prosecutors or negotiating such a deal.

Mr. Flynn’s lawyers had been sharing information with Mr. Trump’s lawyers about the investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, who is examining whether anyone around Mr. Trump was involved in Russian efforts to undermine Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

That agreement has been terminated, the four people said. Defense lawyers frequently share information during investigations, but they must stop when doing so would pose a conflict of interest. It is unethical for lawyers to work together when one client is cooperating with prosecutors and another is still under investigation.

The notification alone does not prove that Mr. Flynn is cooperating with Mr. Mueller. Some lawyers withdraw from information-sharing arrangements as soon as they begin negotiating with prosecutors. And such negotiations sometimes fall apart.

Still, the notification led Mr. Trump’s lawyers to believe that Mr. Flynn — who, along with his son, is seen as having significant criminal exposure — has, at the least, begun discussions with Mr. Mueller about cooperating.

This news is tasting as good as today’s fresh-baked pie.

DRIP DRIP DRIP

The drips don’t stop on Turkey Day, people.

Vanity Fair has an expansive story which you should read . The headline was what Trump told the Russians in the Oval Office and how it compromised intelligence efforts by Israel. (Of course it was him bragging…but you probably already guessed that.)

The part I found most interesting (and breath-taking) was the portion of the article where they recounted how the CIA warned Mossad (Israel’s version of the CIA) that they had come to believe Putin had “leverages of pressure” over Trump. This was BEFORE his inauguration.  From the article:

Israel, the American officials continued, should “be careful” after January 20—the date of Trump’s inauguration. It was possible that sensitive information shared with the White House and the National Security Council could be leaked to the Russians. A moment later the officials added what many of the Israelis had already deduced: it was reasonable to presume that the Kremlin would share some of what they learned with their ally Iran, Israel’s most dangerous adversary.

Let’s reflect on that in our tryptophan haze today.

Hurry up, Special Counsel Mueller, gobble down that turkey sandwich and chop chop, we gotta get things moving along.

Thankful

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Of course there is family, friends, health.  I’m also thankful for:

  1. the Judiciary – (mostly) maintaining the democratic norms of our country
  2. Robert Mueller and his team – for their tireless work to get to the bottom of all this ish
  3. I don’t have eat turkey everyday, but CAN eat turkey everyday if you want (really, you can eat it any day, not just on Thanksgiving)
  4. the utter incompetence of the Republican Congress and the current Administration – it’s been bad, but could have been so much worse.  Let’s hope their incompetence holds through 2018.
  5. THE RESISTANCE! – Getting more people engaged in politics (regardless of their political affiliation) ultimately makes our country stronger.
  6. And finally, I’m thankful I didn’t have to lace this bacon on a turkey today:

Gobble Gobble and thanks for reading our inane posts every day.

Wishing you all the blessings of the holiday season, and for those which this day is difficult, may today land easily.

Thanksgiving with the Muellers, A Dramatic Creation (In My Mind)

**THE SCENE OPENS**

Setting:  Mrs. Mueller’s bridge club, last Saturday

Lady 1:  “Mrs. Mueller, what are you and Robert doing for Thanksgiving?”

Mrs. Mueller:  “Oh, you know my Bobby, he’s busy with the investigation…so I’m flying out to see the kids and grandkids by myself.”

Lady 2:  “Oh!  He’s working on Thursday?”

Mrs. Mueller:  “I’ll leave him a turkey sandwich in the fridge for lunch, and the country ain’t gonna save itself!”

**END OF SCENE**

Yes, because Hope Hicks is about to be questioned, and here’s another friendly reminder:

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all.  I’m particularly thankful for Special Counsel and his team’s dedication to their work this year.

The Internet is on It’s Death Bed…

…and Trump’s FCC is ready to pull the plug.

OK, that may be a (little) over-dramatic, but how else am I going to get your attention about net neutrality?

Let’s face it, the subject is a little dry and a little obscure, so I had to jazz it up to get your attention.

Now that you are here, let’s consider why the end of net neutrality is important.  Hello, comedian Trae Crowder — can you explain it?  (NSFW for language)

Another way to think of it – you will pay for your bandwith, and imagine being forced to use Bing as a search engine, or Yahoo to do your “googling” because the internet service provider you use owns those search engines?  Yeah, I’m horrified, too, that people use Bing or Yahoo to do search, but it could happen, people.  And then my acronym of GTS (google that shit) will no longer be valid, and that’s a problem, too.

ANYWAY – CALL THE FCC AND TELL THEM THIS SHIT WON’T FLY.  This here link will take you to an app which will help you make the call and even suggest what you can say!  DO IT.  RIGHT.  DAMN.  NOW.  Because I don’t want to use Bing and neither do you.

CLICK HERE TO CONTACT THE FCC!

Mugabe…OUT

From Focused Feed’s International bureau, comes this update:  Mugabe is out.

For 37 years, he ruled the country with an iron fist.  Today he resigned.

So what is Zimbabwe known for besides Mugabe?  This picture can give you a clue.

Mosi-oa-Tunya, “The Smoke that Thunders” – a waterfall at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Sorry, Zambia, but Zimbabwe’s view is a bit better (both are stunning).

And here’s a funny story about how I got a Zimbabwe stamp in my passport.  To get from Zambia to Zimbabwe’s side, you have to cross this bridge:

“A short walk” they said at the hotel.  Well, they didn’t explain the “customs” process which involved multiple checkpoints, some gentle pushing to get to the dude with the magic stamp, a scrap of paper with “2” on it (for 2 people wanting to enter), money changing hands and ultimately a guy with an AK on a stool rifling through your passport challenging you for the “right paperwork”.  Then an armed escort walking beside you for the 0.25 mile walk to the entrance of the national park.

The view was worth all the hassle.

As a (brief) visitor to this country many years ago, I am delighted for this new opportunity for Zimbabwe.  Many challenges are ahead, and let’s hope they face them with an eye to democratic and representative philosophies.

Mindless Fun

“What the world needs now
is mindless fun”

I think that’s how the song went?

Watch all two minutes of this.  Because what isn’t fun about a race up a slippery set of stairs?
